Hagnau wine

Could monks and abbots be wrong? Not really, and that is why the rich and large monasteries and convents of the lower Alp region had vineyards and wine cellars in Hagnau since centuries. Already then people knew the value of the Hagnau lake wine.

Today 145 hectares of vineyards are cultivated on the south exposure of Lake Constance. Profiting from this sunny location and mild climate are 60 vintner families that since 1881 are in a vintner association that was founded under the leadership of priest Heinrich Hansjakob. Grape varieties that flourish here are: Müller-Thurgau, Weißburgunder, Grauer Burgunder, blauer Spätburgunder, Kerner, Bacchus, Regent and St. Laurent. Since two decades the environmentally friendly way of viniculture has been practiced. High quality results have been rewarded year after year.

The distinguished banner wines can be sampled at the Winzerhaus. In the historical wine cellar with its imposing barrels professional wine sampling take place. If you even wish, Dr. Heinrich Hansjakob with his large hat and black cloak will personally appear. Indulgence and celebrations belong together – a good glass of Hagnau wine is always present at the many famous Hagnau festivals
